What is the True Cost of Leaking Showers?

Unearthing the true magnitude, of the leaking shower problem is not a simple task. "Although housing industry bodies, home building groups and insurance companies confirm that leaking showers are a problem, the scale is undefined" says Andrew Goodhue Managing Director of Australian Bathroom Concepts, development partners for the Drybase Tiled Shower System project.

"In each city across Australia there are companies who exist purely to rectify leaking showers, every hardware store sell's DIY kits to repair showers. This only scrapes the surface at the homeowner level, let alone the homebuilders whom are caught in the middle of who is responsible for the leakage. Is a leaking shower a plumber, builder, waterproofer, tiler, or shower screen installer problem? Is it a product or installation fault? Are our industry standards adequate?"

"It is difficult to determine where the fault lies. Is it with the trade, product, supplier or industry? The cost to the builder, homeowner and housing industry is significant," Andrew adds.
